Why teachers love it

A finished, printed book — not another worksheet.

✍️

Writing with purpose

Children write with real motivation when they know it becomes a genuine book they get to keep.

🌟

Confidence & pride

Seeing their name on a cover as "the author" is a lasting confidence boost — especially for reluctant writers.

📚

Curriculum-aligned

Supports composition, planning, vocabulary and creativity across the English curriculum.

🔒

Safe by design

No pupil accounts, no chat, no public content. Every book reviewed before print.

Tailored to your class

The right challenge for every Key Stage.

Storywizard adapts the writing level, story length and support to suit the age and stage of your pupils.

Key Stage 1 · Ages 5–7

First stories, big imagination

For our youngest authors, Storywizard keeps language simple and warm. With a teacher or adult guiding the prompts, KS1 pupils create a short, richly illustrated story built around their own characters and ideas.

  • Short, gentle stories with plenty of pictures
  • Adult-supported story prompts
  • Focus on imagination, sequencing and simple narrative
  • A proud "I made a book!" moment early in school life
Key Stage 2 · Ages 7–11

Real authors in the making

KS2 is Storywizard's heartland. Pupils take the lead — choosing their title, characters and plot — and produce a longer, chaptered, illustrated story. Ideal for creative writing units, topic work, or an end-of-year keepsake.

  • Chaptered stories with developing plot and characters
  • Encourages planning, description and vocabulary
  • Great for creative writing projects and topic tie-ins
  • A finished paperback each child can treasure
Key Stage 3 · Ages 11–14

Ambitious, independent writing

KS3 pupils can stretch into longer, more sophisticated stories with richer plots and themes. A powerful way to re-engage older pupils with creative writing and give them a tangible, published result to be proud of.

  • Longer, more complex narratives
  • Independent creation with light teacher oversight
  • Re-engages reluctant writers with a real outcome
  • A genuine published book for the portfolio or shelf

Curriculum links

Learning built into every book.

Composition

Planning, drafting and shaping a complete narrative from idea to finished story.

No photographs needed

Pupils describe their characters in words, so there are no photos to collect, no consent forms, and no images of children involved.

Vocabulary & language

Encourages richer word choices, description and an awareness of audience.

Creativity & imagination

Pupils invent original characters, worlds and plots — entirely their own.

Confidence & voice

Being a named, published author builds self-belief and pride in writing.

Reluctant writers

A real, exciting outcome motivates children who usually resist writing tasks.

Cross-curricular

Tie stories to history, science or topic themes for engaging project work.

SEND & accessibility

Built with SEND pupils in mind.

📖

Reading age set separately from age

A pupil can have a story about things their own age group cares about, written at a reading level they can manage. The story never becomes babyish to match the reading level, and the hero never sounds younger than the reader.

🗣️

Works with assistive software

Every field is labelled so a screen reader announces what it is for. Guidance sits outside the boxes rather than inside them, so it is not lost the moment a pupil starts typing. Dictation software can be used in any field.

📄

Cream paper, not bright white

Every book is printed on cream stock, which cuts glare and is easier to read for many pupils, including dyslexic readers.

🎧

Audiobook — an added option

Not part of the standard class price, but any book can be ordered with a full narration of the whole story in a British voice, emailed within 24 hours. For a pupil who cannot read the printed book comfortably, it is a way in. Ask us and we will quote it.

Checked against WCAG 2.2 level AA

We audit the book creation journey against WCAG 2.2 level AA and fix what it finds — most recently field labelling, colour contrast, a skip link and focus indicators. This is a self-assessment, not an independent audit, and we say so plainly. Our Accessibility Statement sets out what works today and what does not.

Class sets go through the same form as everything else, so all of this applies to bulk school orders too.

Safeguarding & data protection

Built to pass your due diligence.
