Our story

We help children become real authors.

Every child has a story to tell. Storywizard gives them the tools to write it, illustrate it, and hold it in their hands — as a genuine printed paperback with their name on the cover.

Our story

How Storywizard started

My daughter was always writing. Scraps of stories, brilliant openings, characters you wanted to know more about — and then nothing. The ideas were there; the finishing wasn't. She loves books, and one day she told me what she really wanted was to write her own and be a published author.

I'm her dad. I've spent thirty years helping businesses grow, and I've always been fascinated by technology — more recently by what AI can actually do for people, having spent years working with charities and not-for-profits on making their systems work better. So I did what any parent with too much curiosity and not enough sense would do: I started building.

It did not go smoothly.

I lost four weeks of work in one go — overwritten, gone. The books came back wonky. Covers printed with the titles cut off. Getting the writing engine to hold context, to keep a plot straight, to actually imagine something a child would want to read — that was the hardest part by a distance. There were a lot of late nights and a lot of frustration. Every mistake takes two weeks to find out about, because that's how long a book takes to print.

But then the first proper one arrived. Her name on the cover. Her characters. Her story.

Here's the part I didn't plan for, and it's still the best thing about this.

Her friends started making them too. And then they started swapping them. Reading each other's books. Passing them round. Their teacher has started reading them out in class. What began as one child wanting to finish a story has turned into a group of children who write for each other and read for each other — because the book is real, and it's theirs, and someone else wants to read it.

That's why this exists. Honestly, it's less a business than an attempt to give children access to something that used to be out of reach: the pride of holding your own book, with your own name on it, that your friends actually want to read.

She got there. So can your child.

Our mission

Writing builds confidence. Books make it real.

There is something transformative about a child seeing their own words, their own characters, and their own name on the cover of a book they can actually hold. Not a worksheet. Not a printout. A real paperback — the kind you find in a bookshop.

Storywizard is for young authors aged 7 to 14. The child drives the story — they decide the title, the characters, the adventure. Our AI supports the writing and brings the illustrations to life. We handle everything else: the layout, the printing, and delivery straight to the door.

What we believe

Built around the child, not the algorithm.

🧒

The child is the author

Their name goes on the cover. The ideas come from them. We are the printing press, not the storyteller.

📖

Real books matter

A physical book carries weight — literally and emotionally. We print proper paperbacks, not flimsy photobooks.

🌱

Sustainable by design

Print on demand means zero waste. Every book is only printed when it is ordered — no unsold stock, no landfill.

🔒

Safe for families

No social accounts, no child profiles, no data sharing. Built for children and fully compliant with UK GDPR.

Our print partner

Printed by a trusted Certified B Corp.

🌿

We chose our printer because we share the same values.

Every Storywizard book is printed and fulfilled by a trusted Certified B Corporation with over 20 years of sustainable print-on-demand expertise. B Corp certification is awarded to companies that meet rigorous, independently verified standards for social and environmental performance — the same certification held by Patagonia and Ben & Jerry's.

That means your child's book is printed on certified sustainable paper, shipped in recyclable packaging, and produced using renewable energy. When you order a Storywizard book, you are supporting a supply chain that has been independently verified to do the right thing.

The company behind it

What age is Storywizard for?
Storywizard is designed for children aged 7 to 14. Younger children in this range will benefit from a parent helping with the writing prompts, while older children can work independently. The AI adapts the language and complexity to suit the child's input.
Is my child actually writing the book?
Yes — the story belongs to your child. They provide the title, characters, and plot ideas. Our AI expands their ideas into a full story suited to their age, and generates original illustrations to match. Think of it as a very capable writing assistant, not a ghostwriter. Their name appears on the cover as the author.
How long does it take to receive the book?
Generating the story and illustrations takes around 10–15 minutes. Once you place your order, our print partner typically prints and dispatches within 3–5 business days. Standard UK delivery then takes a further 2–4 days, so most families receive their book within 7–10 days of ordering.
What does the finished book look like?
You receive a perfect-bound paperback — the same format as novels found in bookshops. It measures 5 × 8 inches, has a full-colour illustrated cover with your child's name on the front, and contains a fully illustrated interior story. A personalised certificate of authorship is included with every order.
Can I preview the book before I pay?
Yes. You can generate your child's story and see the full content — text and illustrations — before you decide to order. You only pay when you are happy and choose to go to checkout. There is no subscription and no commitment required to generate a preview.
Can I order extra copies?
Yes, and many families do — copies for grandparents make particularly popular gifts. Once your book is generated, you can order as many copies as you like at the same price per copy.
Is it safe for my child to use?
Storywizard does not require your child to create an account or share personal information. We collect only what is needed to process your order (your name, email address, and delivery address) and we never share or sell this data. The platform is fully compliant with UK GDPR. You can read our full Privacy Policy for details.
What if my book arrives damaged?
Because every book is personalised and created to order, we are unable to accept returns under standard consumer returns rules. However, if your book arrives damaged or there is a printing defect, we will arrange a replacement at no cost to you. Please contact us at help@storywizard.uk within 14 days of receipt with a photo of the damage.
Do you offer discounts for schools?
Yes. We work with primary and secondary schools across the UK and offer tailored packages at a cost-effective per-class rate, alongside curriculum-aligned resources. Visit our Schools page or email us at help@storywizard.uk to find out more.
What is a Certified B Corp?
B Corp certification is awarded by the independent organisation B Lab to companies that meet verified standards for social and environmental responsibility. Our print partner has held B Corp certification for years. It means every book is printed on certified sustainable paper, using renewable energy, with recyclable packaging — independently verified, not just a label.
